Hollywood Transformation
A tired, 1960s Ranch-style home was transformed by adding dimension and height to the facade with a Tudor-style addition that blends with the architecture of the surrounding neighborhood. The home went from formal and outdated to comfortable and livable. (Featured in B-Metro Magazine, 2010). -
Smith Lake House
It started with a porch they built themselves, where they dreamed about their future lake house. The clients wanted an eco-friendly retreat that melded with the lake as though it had always been there. A media room duels as a guest room when friends visit, and Murphy dog beds in the Master Suite ensure the "kids" sleep well too. Lake views are captured by glass and timber framing, while passive solar design, radiant heat floors, and Geothermal air conditioning help the home to make more memories and leave less footprints. -
Shoal Creek Renovation
A dated, 1970s Shoal Creek home underwent extensive remodeling. In the foyer, a fleur de lis detail is carved into the stair railing. In each of the children's bedrooms upstairs, a stage is carved out from attic space to provide an added place to play. There is barn siding on the ceiling in the family room & massive limestone surrounds around both fireplaces. And the kitchen, with quartz countertops, cast bronze pulls and glass tile backsplash, has every appliance imaginable. (Featured in Birmingham Magazine, 2009). -
Restoration in Redmont
A neglected 1920s Tudor was transformed into a warm and inviting place for entertaining and family get-togethers. For a newly retired executive whose next chapter involves spending time with her new grandbaby and reconnecting with old friends, some of the spaces make for splendid togetherness: open kitchen and living room & screened outdoor living area, while others provide perfect solitude: the master bathtub nestled in a dormer for privacy and a spectacular view.
